A wide panoramic landscape during summer with a field of wheat being the only sign of human presence. Painstakingly executed with a few dashes of blue wash, the present sheet can be compared with the landscapes of Frederik Van Valckenborch (1566-1623). In 1590-92 the artist undertook the obligatory tour of Italy, resulting in numerous studies of mountainous landscapes, often executed with coloured washes. The location shown in the drawing has not been identified.
