Contemp. mottled calf, gilt orn. spines with raised bands and a red label, sprinkled edges (bumped, upper joints sl. split).
Only edition of the major work of the Dutch linguist Lambert ten Kate (1674-1731), a monument of comparative Germanic philology. With engr. ill.: title by J. Goeree (vol. 1), a folding map "Volk- en taelverspreiding over Europa" by J. Keizer, 1 plate with syllables, 2 headpieces, 1 folding table (vol. 2). Woodcut mark on titles. First title in red and black.
