Contemp. straight-grain green morocco, gilt and blindst. ornamental borders on covers, gilt spine with 5 raised bands (rebacked), brown flyleaves, (later) Japanese endpapers, a.e.g. Wide-margined copy.
Illustrated with 13 fine hand-coloured aquatint plates and two plain plates, by I. Clark from sketches made on location by the author. First published in 1818 and republished until the 21st century. "I performed this journey during the months of June, July, August, and September, a distance of near one thousand miles, and had the singular good fortune to enjoy the finest weather possible" (Chapter 1).
