12mo: [4]-280-[4] pp. (quire N sl. more toned than the others, some spotting and light staining at margin or near the end of the vol.).
Contemp. half sheep (corners bumped, boards sl. rubbed), spine with 5 raised bands (joints splitting at tail, head & tail def.). Good copy.
Rare first edition of this work for the calculation of ephemerides, by the French astronomer J. de La Lande (1732-1807), famous for his research on celestial mechanics (parallaxes of the moon, the sun, etc.) and for his important scientific vulgarisation. Complete with the 3 engr. folding plates ("Noms des taches de la lune" and 2 pl. for the calculation of longitude at sea).
