Known as one of the most skilled painters of the Dutch rococo and classicist landscape, La Fargue (1729-1782) was in high demand with the Dutch urban aristocracy in The Hague. He was strongly influenced by Ruisdael, whose works he occasionally copied. This stylised drawing is typical for La Fargue's youthful topographical drawings.
