Red morocco signed Pagnant (edges very sl. rubbed), blind fillet on covers with central gilt monogram on upper cover, blindruled spine on 5 raised bands, gilt inside dentelle, gilt edges, a.e.g. Very nice copy.

New ed. of "De Senectute" given by Joseph Valart (1698-1781). lllustrated with a nice frontisp.-portr. engr. by Huot (and not by Ficquet as usually mentioned) after Rubens, dated 1788; typographical border throughout. "Barbou printed this edition in 1758 with the very beautiful diamond type cut by P.S. Fournier Jr., a fact specially mentioned on the last page. (...) this title again exceeds our maximum size, but no rule can be without exception and we must strongly advise collectors to include this volume if they are lucky enough to find it" (Bondy).
