Description du lot
8vo: [24]-130-[1] pp. (usual spotting and browning, some pages more heavily browned).
Contemp. cardboard binding.
Enlarged edition (first 1594) by the English mathematician and geographer R. Hues (1553-1632) and annotated by Johannes Isacius Pontanus (1571-1639). Ill. with an engr. vign. on title. Woodcuts in text. One with moveable volvelle most probably (?) original. The book was written to explain the use of the terrestrial and celestial globes that had been made and published by Emery Molyneux in late 1592 or early 1593. Apparently, the book was also intended to encourage English sailors to use practical astronomical navigation.
