Description du lot
Drawing, pen and brown ink, with brown wash, 22 x 30 cm, laid paper mounted on paper support, not signed (underlaid, corners neatly cut off, a few sm. stains, red link line along lower edge).
Mounted by upper margin under passe-partout.
Classical representation of the nymph Syrinx, nude to the waist, flying from the lunging satyr, Pan, along the banks of the river Ladon. Possibly loosely inspired by a painting with the same subject by Rubens and Jan Bruegel the Younger or an engraving by Goltzius of 1589.
Prov. Charles Gasc (coll. stamp at lower left, Lugt 542).
