Screen printing, vellum 96 x 69,5 cm; not signed (folds strengthened on verso).

Poster for an exhibition, Amsterdam, Stedelijk Museum, 5/04-10/05/1954. Designed by W. Sandberg (1897-1984), graphic designer and typographer, from 1945 to 1963 director of the Stedelijk Museum. "Under Sandberg's management, SM developed into an internationally renowned center for modern art. He was open to the Cobra movement experiment at an early age and, like the Museum of Modern Art in New York, pursued a collection and exhibition policy that also covered industrial design, photography and graphic design" (Wikipedia). Philippe Dotremont (1898-1966) was a famous Belgian collector of not only Belgian artists but also of international sculptures, paintings and drawings by Matisse, Picasso, Braque, Léger, Miró, Poliakoff, Albers, Alechinsky, Appel, Dubuffet, Estève, Fautrier, Fontana, Francis, Hantai, Hartung, Herbin, Klein, de Kooning, Manessier, Mathieu, Motherwell, Pollock, Riopelle, Rothko, Soulages, Tapiès, Vasarely and so on.
