Contemp. blindst. vellum, flat ink titled spine. Very good copy.
Rare first edition of this work on the anatomy of the uterus by the Dutch biologist and microscopist J. Swammerdam (1637-1680). Illustrated with 3 fold. engr. of the uterus hand-coloured in red. Swammerdam studied at the University of Leiden under the guidance of Johannes van Horne. This work is the result of research together with van Horne using wax injection techniques and a single-lens microscope made by Johannes Hudde.
