Contemp. mottled sheep (rubbed), gilt spines with 5 raised bands, gilt Arenberg arms on covers, red edges. Nice set.
Important and extensive collection of French legislation on forestry and hunting, 1st publ. 1725. Because of the vast importance of the French forests and its wood for construction, shipbuilding and heating, its use and exploitation have always been the subject of detailed regulation. The first vol. contains a general body of ordinances on woods and waterways, the second vol. concerns the sale of tree trunks, the pannage (right to forest feed pigs with fallen acorns and nuts), the proceeds of pasturage, the sale of wood for heating or construction, wood property (of the Church, parishes, the King, noblemen, individuals), forest roads, forest conservation, etc. Also in vol. II, pp. 546-621 "Des chasses" and pp. 622-665 "De la pêche". Woodcut head- and tailpieces.
