Red morocco by Brany, triple gilt ruled covers, gilt orn. spine with raised bands, gilt & marbled edges (some sm. traces of use). Good copy.
First edition of the continuation of the "Voyages of Gulliver" by J. Swift. Desfontaines (1685-1745), translator of Swift's work, was a French journalist and popular historian who contributed to the "Journal des Scavans". He and Voltaire opposed, attacked and responded to each other in books.
