Lge folio : [10]-18 pp. + 20 plates (a few sm. tears underlaid, waterstains on last lvs).
Mod. black half leather (sl. rubbed), spine on 7 raised bands. Good copy.
Sumptuous publication by the English engraver John Pine (1690-1756), documenting the official installation of the new Order of the Bath, founded by George I. With a parallel t.-p. in French, and English and French text in parallel columns. Engraved illustrations: 2 on t.-p. (1 handcoloured), headpcs and decorative initials (some handcoloured), 20 very large engrs showing scenes, portraits, coats-of-arms etc., all double-page (but 1), in vivid (later) handcolour, and occ. decorated with silver or gold paint.
