Original edition of this work on astronomy by the French astronomer P.-Ch. Le Monnier (1715-1799). Illustrated with a front. by Martin Dumont after Dheulland showing the Paris Observatory and 6 fold. pl. showing astronomical instruments incl. a telescope constructed by George Graham. The Observatory was one of the most important in Europe and many significant observations were collected. Le Monnier also persisted in recommending British methods and instruments and so contributed to the reform of French practical astronomy.
