Folio: [12]-364-cccxlviii-[12] pp. (lacking the engr. portrait and the colofon leaf g6, outer margin of the engr. title strengthened, index leaf g5 visibly repaired, touching the printed surface).
Mod. brown leather binding with corners, marbled paper on covers, spine on 6 raised bands.
First edition collecting descriptions of rare plants observed by Clusius (1526-1609) in various countries (Spain, Italy, Hungary), publ. by Plantin in 1576 and 1583, along with additions describing new plants. Also included are "Commentariolum de Fungis", the first important treatise on fungi, and part of Clusius' botanical correspondence. Ill. with a nice engr. title and more than 1110 woodcuts.
