Contemp. half green shagreen, marbl. paper on covers, gilt flat spine, marbl. endpapers, slipcase (worn, min. def., corners bumped).
Luxurious album containing a portrait of Rubens engraved by Benoist after Le Clerc and 24 engravings by Duthé, Benoist, Gabriel, Gouyon e.a. of the 24 paintings by Peter Paul Rubens commissioned in 1621 by Marie de' Medici, widow of Henry IV of France, to decorate the Palais du Luxembourg (the so-called Marie de' Medici cycle). This cycle is currently preserved at the Louvre Museum. Each pl. is accompanied by an explanation of the subject.
