79 photos, mainly b/w, various sizes and presentations, stuck on paper, protected by tissue guards, extended ms. notes on the album pages and on verso of the images.

Photo album square 4to, red leather.

Extraordinary and very interesting historical document about the Communist Party in Belgium between 1920 and 1970. It starts in 1925 with a photo of a man selling the "L'Avant-garde", the French monthly journal of the young communists and continues with photos of manifestations in several cities, the funeral of Vuillemin in 1934, meetings and congresses in several years with among others Gaston Monmousseau (member of the French Communist Party) during the 5th congress of the party in 1936, party activities, the central school of the party, Fernand Brunfaut in 1938 during an activity, the birthday of Julien Lahaut (leader of the Communist Party after WWI) in 1939, the commemoration of Joseph Jacquemotte (founding member of the party) in 1948, the commemoration in 1948 of the "fusillades" during the Belgian strikes of 1886, several photos showing Xavier Relecom, Andrée Smeesman and René Kleitz in 1953 at a party, Elisabeth, Queen of the Belgians, during International Workers' Day in 1953 receiving flowers from Nicole Cahen, Queen Elisabeth, Brunfaut and Camille Huysmans in 1962, some images of a visit to Yan'an (China) and from a Chinese delegation visiting Belgium, etc. Furthermore a letter and text to "Xavier" Relecom. All photos dated and almost all with explications on verso, one with signatures on the back, another with a text in Russian.
