Design by C. T'Felt in memory of Léonce Van Crombrugghe (Ghent 1847-1875), member of the Papal Zouaves, an infantry force formed in defence of the Papal States. In addition to a short biography and a biblical verse, all elements refer to the papal state and the Zouaves. On top an (oval) photograph of pope Pius IX, the bottom decorated with an (oval) photograph of Van Crombrugghe as Zouave. In the center a handwritten text in a cartouche.
