Lot description
Etching, 40 x 54 cm, laid paper (foxing, large horizontal and vertical folds running through the middle of the sheet, sl. toned).
Stuck under passe-partout, under glass and frame (not studied outside frame).
Anonymous satirical print against the emigré arm led by Louis François II, Prince of Conti . A motley procession of nobility, royals and clergymen - represented as dwarfs and trolls - marches along the bank of the Rhine towards a rock marked "Constitution Française". Lettered with title, a numbered key 1 to 14 to the figures in the image, and with publication line 'Se vend a Paris chez les principaux marchands d'estampes'.
