Mod. blind-ruled calf with original gilt calf lower cover pasted on, gilt-titled spine, decor. endpapers. Very good copy.

Original ed. of the "introduction to mysticism" by the Benedictine abbot of Liessies L. Blosius (1506-1566), including a defense of the German mystic Johann Tauler (1300-1361). Printed in italics. Ref. BT 5275. - BCNI 2365. - Pettegree NB 5201. - Not in Adams, KBR, STC Dutch (BL). Prov. On f. 78v Bruges ownership entry, dated 1553: “Joh[ann]es baptista de Clerc [...] Can[onicus] [...] apud diua[m] Virginem Brugen[sem]” (and a few reader’s marks in his hand). - Old ownership entry on title (erased). - Libr. stamp (partly removed). - Blind initials "VB" on front cover.
