Lot description
Folio: [4]-c1/Bb6 (= xiii/ccc), A1/I5 (= i/li)-[1] ff. (lacking 30 ff.: 1st title, +6 (= last f. prologue), a1-b6 (= i-xii), p1 (= lxxxv), H2 (Vienna), I1 (= xlvii), I6-L6 (= lii-lix & tables); soiling and staining, some worming, tears and repairs, edges last ff. frayed).
Leather binding gone, leaving visible the wooden boards and the open spine, metal catches (clasps gone). Acceptable but incomplete copy.
Only edition of the renowned medieval history of Flanders from the mythical beginnings up to the Burgundian period; the latter part probably written by the Bruges poet Anthonis de Roovere. Book is incomplete, but can be considered as a nice collection of early woodcuts: large portrait of Charles V on 2nd title, and +/- 165 ills in text. Gothic type, in 2 cols. Ref. NK 659. - B.B.
