4 (of 5) vols, 12mo, 13,5 x 8,5 cm: [14]-778-[12], [4]-525 (of 534)-[6], [4]-538-[9], [4]-334-145-[7] pp.; c. 250 pl. (traces of use, some corners missing, some tears).
Cont. calf, gilt-ruled covers with central ornament, gilt-stamped spines with raised bands (rubbed spines).
Incomplete copy of Meurs' pocket edition (1st ed. in German 1655-1661), profusely illustrated by Caspar Merian: 4 different ill. title pages, c. 250 pl. including 1 general map of France, most double-paged, some folding, some representing more than 1 view. Magnificent iconography of 17th c. France, picturing bird's-eye views of sites, cities, castles, abbeys, churches, fortifications. Meur's preface, dated June 26, 1662, and announcing five vols, is included in the 1st instead of the usual 4th vol.; the 5th vol. is missing. Ref. Tiele 240.
