Contemp. dark green shagreen, blind-st. percaline boards, gilt-orn. spines, marbled edges.

Set of 4 volumes (1, 3-5) of this French translation by Séraphin J. Mottet (1861-1930) of "The Illustrated Dictionary of Gardening" by Nicholson (1847-1908), English botanist and horticulturist, curator of Kew Gardens, who was awarded the Victoria Medal of Honour by the Royal Horticultural Society in 1897 for his contribution to horticulture. Ill. with 63 chromolithographs and one ill. in b/w drawn by Henri Caruchet, R. Godard, A. Lefevre, Elisa Champion, etc. Abundantly ill. in-text.
