Engr., 36,4 x 48,8 cm (light traces of central fold).
Hinged at upper edge. Under passe-partout.
Mercator's famous wall map from 1540, of which the only surviving copy hangs in the Museum Plantin-Moretus, here published in a smaller version by Gerard de Jode after the Rome edition by M. Tramezzino. 2nd state with imprint erased and sandbanks engraved along the coast, from the 1593 "Speculum Orbis Terrae" (leaf 4D, fol. 49).
