Lot description
Brown ink, blue wash, 17,9 x 24,1 cm, laid paper with watermark (quadruped in circle) (few sm. light stains, sl. soiled at top).
Hinged at upper edges. Under passe-partout and frame (studied outside frame).
Interesting landscape drawing with Italian influences. Lodewijk Toeput (c. 1550-1605), also known as il Pozzoserrato, produced similar compositions in the same technique. See examples in Rotterdam (Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, inv. N 42 (PK)) and Saint-Petersburg (State Hermitage Museum, inv. ОР-7296). Sketch of a figure in brown ink on verso.
