Beautifully illustrated family chronicle, compiled by the Cologne canon J.M. de Bors (1730-after 1779) - “j’ai ecrit tout ceci” (f. 172r). The chronicle starts with 1722, year of the marriage of "Eugene Joseph de Bois" (Roermond 1691-Cologne 1767) and "Anne Helene Francoise de Groote" (Cologne 1697-1779). The couple i.a. lived in Brussels, the Prince-bishopric of Liège, Maaseik and Cologne. The manuscript yields much information on their ancestors, descendants and relatives. The chronicle, in calendar style, notes numerous cont. events (military and local) and family news (births and deaths, visits, travels). With 24 large fully coloured coat-of-arms (some with gold), a number of these with nice portraits and views of landscapes and towns (Cologne? Roermond? Maaseik?), 5 similar uncoloured pen drawings, and 21 large drawings, some coloured (18 portraits and 3 funeral scenes). Loosely added genealogical notes and a (20th-c.) "Table onomastique" (11 pp.). Prov. [Georges Petit].
