Lot description
Various sizes, Latin or Dutch, incl. a few bundles with related documents sewn together (usual folds, wrinkles, soiling or loss of seals). Good general condition.
Contents 20 items date from the 14th c. and some 50 from the 15th c., mainly registrated by Brussels officials ("scabini"). A few later documents (16th-17th c.) were registrated in Ganshoren, Jette, Molenbeek or Vilvoorde. Three items were created for Sint-Pieters-Leeuw and Gaasbeek. Most of the documents are contracts of loans, rents or sales of land, and a few deal with arrangements of guardianship, marriage contracts or heritage cases. These documents contain hundreds of names of members of 15th-c. Brussels families, almost exclusively from the lower middle class.
