16mo: 680-[52] pp. (without the 2 last blank lvs, some lvs brown., upper margin trimmed short with partial loss in pagination and running title on f. a3, lack of paper on f. C4 without loss of text).

Mod. amateur half vellum, handwritten title on the edge (sl. soiled).

Reprint of the Latin translation from Greek with comments (1st ed., Lyon, 1548) by Martin Akakia (1497?-1551), professor of medicine at Paris, physician of King François I and of Clément Marot. Major work of Galenus (c. 130 - c. 210/216), physician to the Roman emperors Marcus Aurelius Antoninus and Lucius Aurelius Verus. Printer's mark on title and 2 full-page woodcut schematic illustrations. Ref.
