Rare edition of this treatise, 1st publ. Basel 1583. The German Protestant scholar Rosinus (Roßfeld, 1551-1626) was one of the first antiquarians to provide a comprehensive survey of Rome and its antiquities, dealing with the history of ancient Rome, religion, gods and the priesthood, law, politics, marriage and funeral rites, etc. 2 folding woodcuts (map of Rome, army camp) and various woodcuts in text.
