18th-c. sheep, gilt-orn. spine with raised bands, speckled edges (head and tail missing, front joint split, corners bumped, sides rubbed).
Treatise on cardinal virtues and church leadership by Bernard of Clairvaux (c. 1090-1153), abbot and mystic, dedicated to his former disciple pope Eugene III. Large woodcut on title. Title in red and black.
