Galvanized copperplate, 59,0 x 44,7 cm, signed "LE SERMENT D'AMOUR / Gravé par J. Mathieu d'après le / Tableau d'H. Fragonard P. français.", address "Paris chez l'Auteur Cloître St. Benoit / Maison de Mr. Demarteau." (few spots, edges sl. rubbed).
Very good condition.
Monumental copperplate for the engraving after Jean-Honoré Fragonard's (1732-1806) painting in Paris (Louvre, inv. RF2029). Impressions are i.a. in London (British Museum, inv. 1871,0812.3726) and New York (The Met, inv. 41.140.9).
