8 vol., 4to; 400 pl. (text n.c. = probably missing some pp., some replaced with ms. copies; some min. browning and spotting).
Half cloth, marbled paper on covers, flat spines (spines repaired, corners rubbed).
First edition, originally published in instalments and therefor rarely complete, of this marvellous work on lepidoptera started by Christiaan Andreas Sepp and continued by his son Jan Christiaan. Ill. with 8 hand-coloured engr. front. and 400 hand-coloured engr. Sepp based this work on his own collection of preserved butterflies and insects which still can be seen in Rijksmuseum Boerhaave in Leiden.
