Lot description
3 watercolours, graphite, 34 x 23,4 cm, laid paper, 2 calligraphic titles at top edge, unsigned (sl. foxed).
Under passe-partout and gilt frame.
Magnificent drawings by the famous bird painter Abbé Antoine Soudry (c. 1750-1800), depicting a spoonbill, a common crane and two magpies. Like most bird drawings by Soudry, these drawings are unsigned. They have the finesse, style and calligraphic handwriting of other attributed drawings by the French draughtsman.
