Contemp. burgundy morocco, boards gilt-ruled and decorated "à la Du Seuil", gilt-orn. spine with raised bands, a.e.g. (sl. traces of use).
Very rare first edition of a biography of saint Hubert attributed to Cyprien Mareschal (1662-1686), Abbot of the Abbey of Saint-Hubert, according to BnF. In 1737, the Abbot Célestin de Jonghe (1689-1760) published a revised version of this biography. Illustrated with an engr. title and 8 pl., copper-engr. by Gr. Huret or Guérard, and two orn. copper-engr. headpieces and initials.
