Large 8vo.
Binding designed by Henry Van de Velde: half vellum, grey paper covers, gilt tool on upper cover, gilt titled flat spine, light brown endpapers, gilt top edge (spine sl. dusty). In expertly made mod. green cardboard folder with reproduction of the "Ecce Homo" logo (spine discol.), and mod. green paper folder. Good copy.
First edition. Binding design, typographic layout and ornaments by Henry Van de Velde. Ed. limited to 1250 copies. 1/1100 on Van Gelder laid paper (n. 1199), with the splendid double-page title, smaller ornaments and some words printed in brown and black and with the half vellum binding matching these copies (impression in gold and black and chamois leather for the 150 first copies on Japan paper). "Smaller and quieter than the "Zarathustra", the "Ecce Homo" features a decorative title-page combining van de Velde's swelling abstract ornaments with his own lettering" (The Turn of a Century).
