Etching and engraving, 39,2 x 26,1 cm, laid paper with unidentified watermark, signed and dated in text at bottom: "[...] autore di esso il Sig(no)re Andrea Sacchi [...] intagliare dal Sig(no)re Giovanni Valdor [...] 1640 [...]", Latin text at top, Italian text at bottom (trimmed to platemark, 1 spot).

Hinged at upper edges.

Curious image with several skeletons flying or holding torches. Designed by the Italian Andrea Sacchi (1599-1661) for an unnamed Jesuit patron and engraved by Johannes Valdor II (1616-1670) from Liège. Dedicated to the Roman Carmelite Sisters Innocentia and Maria Gratia from the Barberini family, nieces of Pope Urban VIII (1568-1644).
