Etching and engraving, 44,5 x 55,8 cm, laid paper, signed at bottom left: "Painted by Richard Wilson, R.A." and right: "Engraved by Wm. Woollet & Wm. Ellis.", address at bottom centre: "Published as the Act directs, 4 June, 1778; by Wm. Woollett. / Engraver to His Majesty, Charlotte Street, Rathbone Place, London.", English title and text in lower margin (sl. browned unevenly at bottom right, few platemarks strengthened, sm. stain).
Hinged at upper edges, under passe-partout. Good impression with wide margins.
Two monks at a pond in a forest engraved by William Woollett (1735-1785), the most famous British engraver of his day. Dedicated to the important patron Sir George Howland Beaumont, 7th Baronet (1753-1827), who was one of the founders of the National Gallery in London.
