Rare first and only edition of this collection of Saints' lives from the Low Countries, by the priest A. van Loo (1659-1727). Ill. with 13 engr. full-page portraits of early missionaries, apostles, martyrs and bishops from the region, like Charles the Good, Amandus, Gertrude of Nivelles, Servatius and Maternus of Tongeren, Rumoldus, Willibrordus, and Bavo and Livinus of Ghent (these last 2 pl. showing in the background the church of St Bavo's Abbey (destroyed in 1540), St Bavo's Cathedral and the Ghent Belfry). Full-page engr. arms of Marie-Jeanne Catherine della Faille, widow of Jean-François della Faille, first baron of Nevele, to whom the book is dedicated. First title in red & black.
