Second ed. (1st 1639), the first Elzevirian edition. The most famous work by Naudé (1600-1653), bibliophile, librarian to Mazarin and political theorist: he spreads the ideas of Machiavelli, justifying the "coups d'état" (of princes!) based i.a. on the example of the St Bartholomew's Day massacre.
