18th-c. calf, gilt-ruled covers, gilt ruled spine with raised bands, marbled edges (joints split repaired with cloth, rubbed). Good copy.

First edition, published posthumously, of the history of the Republic of Venice from 1487 until 1583 by Bembo (1470-1547), humanist, cardinal and official historian of the Republic. Copy with G. Scoto's large device representing Mercure and Pallas on title and with the privilege to Carlo Gualteruzzi. Aldus' mark on last leaf. Wide-margined copy in a neat typography.
