Rare first edition of this work on the Kingdom of God and how to reach it, by P. Sanchez (1526-1609 Mexico City), the first Jesuit Theology professor at the University of Valladolid, the first provincial superior of New Spain (1572-1580) and founder of the important Jesuit San Pedro y San Pablo College (1574) in Mexico City. Nice engr. title with Renaissance ornaments. The printer Maria Rodriguez Rivalde was the first mother-in-law of Maria de Quinones, who would later marry the printer Juan de la Cuesta in 1602. On the presses of the Madrid Madrigal printshop, de la Cuesta printed the first edition of Don Quixote in 1605. Two years later he left for India, while his wife de Quinones managed the printing house until 1666, publishing of a large number of the literature of the Spanish Golden Age, including authors such as Lope de Vega, Tirso de Molina and Pedro Calderón de la Barca. Woodcut Jesuit mark on title, headpieces and initials.
