Folio: [26]-360 (= 359) ff. (foxing, marginal wormholes, occasional marginal dampstains, margins of t.-p. and f. 224 torn without loss).
Cont. blind-stamped red morocco, covers ruled with fillets and ornamented rollstamps and decorated with central tools, spine on raised bands (spine partly repaired; later endleaves).
Second edition by Josse Bade (1st 1514) of the famous "Lives" of Plutarch, but first illustrated with 78 fine woodcuts. Also contains other biographies extracted from e.g. Aemilius Probus and one non-classical of Charlemagne. Text in roman type with large dotted initials. Woodcut mark of Sessa (cat & mouse) on title and another one at the end. Title in black & red. Neat typography. Ref.
