2 vol., 8vo: lxvi-[2]-432, 503-[1]-4 pp. (sm. marg. stains in begin. of vol. I, occ. quires sl. age-toned, wormholes in lower margin in 1st half of vol. II).

Contemp. marbled calf, gilt coat of arms on gilt ruled covers, gilt orn. flat spines, a.e.g. (sm. traces of use, loss of leather to lower corner of vol. II).

First edition of the translation by Jean-François de La Harpe (1739-1803), French writer and playwright. With Latin text facing the French.
Prov. Anne-Marguerite-Gabrielle de Beauvau-Craon, "Maréchale de Levis Mirepoix" (1707-1792). She played a role in the French court as "conseillère" of the Marquise de Pompadour and the Comtesse du Barry (supralibros; ref.
