Contemp. calf over wood (rubbed, sm. def.), covers with blind-ruled frame, ornamental blind-roll (faded), gilt-stamped central IHS-mark and corner pieces, gilt orn. spine with 4 raised bands (sm. def. at head), 1 catch remaining (of 2; clasps gone). Good copy.

Rare first edition of the Dutch trsl. of the "Libellus Sodalitatis" (1586) by the Brabant Jesuit Fr. Costerus (1532-1619), trsl. by Godevaert van den Berghe. Woodcut ill. on title. In Gothic and roman type. "Plantin did not print many copies of this edition as he guessed that Costerus would like to improve upon the text" (Voet).
