8vo: [56]-424-[= 422] ff. (age-toned, occ. spotting, contemp. ms. annot.).

German contemp. blind-stamped pigskin with bevelled edges, covers decorated with roll-stamps (with portraits) and fillets and central panel (figuring St Lucrecia and Justice), spine with raised bands (upper cover loose, corners rubbed).

Rare Venetian edition of the commentaries on Justinian's codification of Roman law by the Roman lawyer Accursio (ca. 1182-1263), with additions by G. Messaggio, E. Ferretti, E. Fr. Baron, S. Aldobrandini and Cr. Porzio. Ill. with a full page woodcut figuring the "arbor civilis" (f. 2H6). Printed in red and black.
