2 vol., 4to: [4]-xii-329, [4]-vii-[1 bl.]-286 pp. (browning and spotting, some staining in blank margin, sm. wormtracks in the Canada maps).

Contemp. sheep, spines with 5 raised bands (used but very firm).

Very rare first edition of the posthumously published complete works of S. Lefebvre (1712-1770), "major au corps des ingénieurs de Prusse, membre de l’Académie Royale de Berlin". Ill. (complete) with 33 engraved folding plates (17, 16) showing fortifications, battle plans, surveying schemes and maps, i.a. four maps on the Siege of Schweidnitz and 2 maps of French Canada, by Tardieu. Vol. I contains "L'art d'attaquer et de défendre les places" and a day by day "Journal du Siège de la ville de Schweidnitz, en l'an 1762". Vol. II holds i.a. "Essai sur les mines", "Nouveau traité du nivellement" and "Essai sur la manière de faire les cartes".
