Publ. three-quarter brown shagreen, marbled paper covers, gilt-orn. flat spine, a.e.g. (spine faded, rubbings).
Vol. II, but work complete in itself, devoted to Calcutta illustrated with 2 frontispieces and 20 plates figuring Calcutta, Rohtas Fort (now in Pakistan), a mosque in Coimbatore, a Tibetan domestic yak, etc. By the English cleric Caunter (1792-1851), who served as a cadet in India. Vol. I contains the description of Madras and vol. III of Mumbai.
