Contemp. calf (some sm. tears, soiled), gilt spine with 6 raised bands (front joint splitting). Good copy.
First and only edition of this religious and topographical description of the Archbishopric of Mechelen (Mechelen, Leuven, Diest, Brussels, Aalst, etc.) by the Mechelen priest and historian C. Van Gestel (1658-1748). Engr. ill.: 1 folding map of the Archbishopric of Mechelen (sm. tear underlaid and 1 fold torn), 3 fold. views (a few sm. tears) of St Rumbold's Church, St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral and St Peter's Church at Leuven by J. Harrewijn, 9 portraits and 10 funeral monuments (1 tear underlaid) or inscriptions (4 double-page or folding and some signed by D. Coster), 1 sm. text ill. of coins, 2 title-vign. by D. Coster and 1 half-page coat of arms of the dedicatee Thomas Philipp. Title in red and black.
