Joined: Giesecke, R.A. (ed.) - Schönheit des Orients. Dresden, Verlag der Schönheit, ca. 1925. 8vo: 16 pp. (bookblock loose). Orig. cover in Art Nouveau style (spine reinforced with tape). Advertising catalogue with nude photos of the studio run by Rudolf Franz Lehnert and Ernst Heinrich Landrock, active in Tunesia and Egypt in the early 20th c. and noted for producing Orientalist images, mostly distributed in monographs. Here published in the German magazine "Die Schönheit - mit Bildern geschmückte Zeitschrift für Kunst und Leben", publ. by Karl Vanselow between 1902 and 1914 in Berlin, Leipzig and Vienna. The magazine was elaborately designed, produced on art paper and was the first to offer "nacktkulturelle" photographic nudes. Its cover page was designed in Art Nouveau style for each issue. In 1914 the Dresden publisher Richard A. Giesecke took over the magazine. Essays, novellas and stories through poems by authors such as Wilhelm Bode, Henry van de Velde, Isadora Duncan etc. were published. A striking number of them concealed their true identity. It was characeristic of the "Nacktkulturbewegung" to resort to a pseudonym for fear of professional disadvantages. (2 vol.)
