4to: 75-[7] ff. (incl. final blank; occasional sl. toning or spotting, tiny wormholes in blank top margin of 1st ff.).

18th-c. Italian vellum, spine with gilt leather label, red sp. edges, marbled endpapers. Very good copy.

Very rare Venice ed. of the major theological work of Pope Adrianus VI (1459-1523). On f. 75r some Latin verses in his praise. Large woodcut papal arms on title. Woodcut mark on k9v. Printed in 2 columns, in gothic type. Ref. Edit16 22447. - Not in Adams, BnF, Limo, STC Italian (BL). Bound with: Opimus, Laurentius, O.S.M. - Egregia super quatuor libros Sententiarum lectura Parisiis habita [...]. Venice, Nicolini da Sabbio, (April) 1532. Folio: 51-[1] ff. (title border just shaved at bottom). Part 1 (of 4), complete in itself, of a commentary on the “Sentences”, the major theological textbook by Peter Lombard (1096-1160). L. Opima (d. 1388), a member of the Servite Order, was bishop of Trento. Title within elaborate woodcut border, incl. 4 portraits of Servite scholars, and with woodcut ecclesiastical arms.
